The Lion King 3D

The Lion King 3D

'Lion King and 3D analysis: Disney Classic is the same, and visual effects pack a punch

Visually enhanced reissue of classic Disney movie about a lion prince. With the voices of Matthew Broderick, James Earl Jones. Directors: Roger Allers, Rob Minkoff (1:29). G: violence, including the death of a parent. In theaters region.

Since it was in 1994, an entire generation of kids grew up watching "The Lion King" from the couch. That, as the new 3D new release immediately makes clear, is a real shame.

Of course, Disney's motivations might be a little 'less than altruistic. This is, after all, a relatively cheap way to cash in premade product. But let's leave the cynicism at the door ($ 18 with adult ticket). Everyone, young and old, to find something to appreciate in this story of a lion Shakespeare's young people to find its rightful place in the world.

Baby Simba (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) is held on the African savannah, which receives as the heir to the stern, but loved his father Mufasa, the king (James Earl Jones).

The only animal that does not cheer the arrival of Simba and his uncle, Scar (Jeremy Irons, wonderful). Embittered by having to step aside, Scar arranges Mufasa's death and the expulsion of Simba.

(Now is the time to note that this film, like so many Disney films, not to avoid the tragedy of his eyes Do not be fooled by the vote G: .. Circle of Life, and death, must be addressed unvarnished candor)

Young Simba (Matthew Broderick) finds a new home with the meerkat Timon (Nathan Lane) and Pumbaa the warthog (Ernie Sabella). But when his first love, Nala (Moira Kelly) tracks him down, he realizes he has a legacy to respect.

The film itself is both grand and intimate, serious and silly, heartbreaking and heartwarming, all of which is a classic in the pantheon of Disney. The Elton John / Tim Rice songs are well chosen and emotionally appropriate and it is likely that your kids will sing "Hakunah Matata" for several days after hearing them.

What are 3D, they are wonderful, perfect, albeit a little 'surprisingly-for hand-drawn animation of the original film. It seems that we could touch the birds that fly across the screen, gazelle galloping through a savanna, rain drops falling from the sky. A graphics package HeFT emotional, as when Simba and Scar fight for supremacy in the battle which now fills the screen with a ferocity.

I am always ready to condemn the tactics wallet-busting Studios, where the forces of 3D on the public pay too much for a cinema ticket. If you want us to pay an outrageous fee they need to provide not only a film but an experience. And this reissue is as rare to meet this standard. See it in your living room just can not compare.

Dallas Cowboys at New York Jets Sunday Night Football

Dallas Cowboys at New York Jets Sunday Night Football

Last game on Sunday, Week 1, Dallas Cowboys head north to the New York Jets. What is certainly feeling before the game, the memories of '11 in September 2001 will definitely be the protagonist of the game as the NFL, New York and The All-American honor of the 10 years that day.

Tonight's game is the Jets in a strange situation. If they lose, really behind the team the Buffalo Bills, has decimated the Kansas City Chiefs today.

However, this would be a good game. Dallas has a ton of talent and is looking for a rebound after a disappointing 2010. Jets are trying to start their march to the AFC Championship game the third consecutive time.

The last thing I'm going to say GO Cowboys!!!!!

"First Class" X-Men Franchise Revitalize

Revitalizes X-Men Franchise
"First Class" X-Men Franchise Revitalize

More recently there have been some pretty awful franchise reboot the box office occupying Disney's "Tron: Legacy", the "Clash of the Titans". But the shortcomings pale in comparison to the wreck that was the 2009 "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" which was panned by critics everywhere and apparently left the franchise for dead. Curiously, however, Matthew Vaughn "X-Men: First Class" manages to be all that "Origins" was not: exciting, deep and consistent. "First Class" diving into the relationships and stories of return of some of the most remarkable in the X-Men universe, Charles Xavier / Professor X (James McAvoy) and Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and manages complicate an aging franchise, without sacrificing the distinctive atmosphere of action and adventure films X-Men.

The standout features of the "First Class" are dark and often disturbing stories about the origin of mutants, which later came to be known as X-Men, and the strained relations between Xavier and Lehnsherr. Instead of gamma rays and spider bites catalysts of lesser films of the same bent-"First Class" gives his characters emotional, rather than supernatural color. The cast includes a girl who can only survive by stealing food because the world does not accept his looks and a boy who looks like a man murders his mother in a concentration camp.

So while the film's characters themselves are not homo sapiens, there is something characteristic of the human suffering they are forced to endure because of intolerance in the world. And because of the humanity of the characters clear, the conflict between Xavier and the weary heart good, is powerfully bitter Lehnsherr with moral ambiguity. "First Class" is more than the standard battle between good and evil in most superhero movies. Instead, these two worldviews as valid, but radically different. Xavier always optimistic, refuses to give back to the man, while refusing to follow Lehnsherr allowing mankind to oppress and others like him. The uniqueness of the "First Class" is that it gives the public an opportunity to evaluate the morality of the two views without judging yourself.

Another triumph for the "First Class" was given a small role. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence (Raven / Mystique) to give the franchise 48 years, a new look and bring a youthful energy to the film that was not present in previous versions. At some point in the film, mutants, even throw in a residence of the parties of all kinds, with music from the 60's funk and roll someone upside down from the ceiling. This deviation from the norm will certainly help broaden the range of the franchise and the history of the corresponding X-Men.

Not that the film is not without occasional false. As entertaining as "First Class" is everyone thoroughly familiar with the X-Men franchise will likely be much puzzled by it. Unfortunately, the flow of the story of the mission of Professor X, the conflict between the Brotherhood mutants Magneto and the X-Men need to understand the meaning of past histories of the characters. Without knowledge of the facts in front, the background provided in the film simply does not tell the public. And while the relationship between Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr is meticulously prepared, their connections with other characters often leave much to be desired. Take, for example, the romance between Xavier and Moira MacTaggert government operation (Rose Byrne), culminating in a kiss at the end of the film, despite the lack of accumulation and the explanation of how it came to attracting be the first.

But the forces of "First Class" far outweigh these weaknesses scattered.

Perhaps the reason that "First Class" has managed to outshine its predecessor until it is once again the classic X-Men mantra of tolerance. From the first X-Men comic was released in 1963 amid the racial strife in the United States increased its message of acceptance has remained relevant in a society still divided. For his part, "First Class" suggests that the key to survival in a world where it is still hard to be different is to foster a sense of belonging, as Xavier is trying to do with mutants constantly reminding them that they are not alone in their struggle for acceptance in society. With this poignant message, a winning cast and a compelling plot, "X-Men: First Class" is a breath of fresh air in a franchise that has long needed a type of mutation itself.

Donald Driver Welcomes The Girl, I Like The Team Record

Donald Driver Welcomes The Girl, I Like The Team Record

This could be a fantastic 24 hours for Donald Driver.
Wednesday night, a driver and his wife, Betina welcomed the girl in the world. Her name is Charity.

Thursday could run and set a new club record. He needs only 42 yards to become the Packers all-time leading receiver, passing James Lofton.

He said this week that he was concerned Betina would be too excited to play and go to work Thursday night, at least not have to worry about it.

This would be the third large reception master franchise record. He already holds records for most catches and most consecutive games with a catch.

It would be great to break the record on a touchdown pass, but driving trying not to focus on the case.

"I did not even really thought about it. You get to a point where it is too much pressure, if you start to think about it. I'll play the game," he said. "When I get it, I think someone will tell me. I'm just focused on going out and doing game counts when I can. "

The driver does not expect to record a game-stopper, either. "They did not when I broke the record for receptions, so I do not think they will stop it. It's just a game. You wave when playing can be, and you are able to walk away knowing you have done. "

Republican Presidential Candidate Debate: The Eight Takeaways

Republican Presidential Candidate Debate: The Eight Takeaways

GOP presidential candidate debate Wednesday was only the first of a series of waterfalls Meet-up. But it may prove to be most revealing.
Republican Presidential Candidate Debate: The Eight Takeaways

Viewers who tuned in 105 minutes face to face at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library has acquired a taste for style, Rick Perry, at their meeting in the first phase with the rest of the Republican field in 2012, attended the first debate, Mitt Romney without strong lead in the polls and the beginning of the end for many applications.

This guide political takeaways:

Rick Perry is now the clear favorite

Governor of Texas has received most of the questions to questions by Brian Williams, and John Harris, but he also absorbed the blows most of its competitors. When all the energy is concentrated in one direction, it is stressed that dominates the field - and last night was Perry, who was at the center of attention.

Perry admitted himself to focus on him, saying at one point: "I feel a bit 'as a pinata."

Got no result without problems. The response to climate change, where Perry has invoked Galileo remains a head scratcher and swayed unnecessarily harsh with some of the best goals that were left alone (other than to show that the coup was met with a response, the logic aggressively pushing the Texas Representative Ron Paul was not immediately clear). But he did not handle everything perfectly, it was a great achievement: no flop.

Rick Perry will not apologize for Rick Perry

For all the talk of softening some of its edges blunt as it transitions to the national scene, Perry has made no attempt to adjust its language on a variety of subjects - most remarkable of his "Ponzi scheme, lying monstrous "rhetoric on Social Security.

To the question "bored", he says, the rights of the manifesto was published late last year, Perry looked initially as if to get away for a while '. But then he doubled, stating that the program is actually basically a fraud.

He expressed no regrets that the number of people executed in Texas on his watch - 234 - and said he believes that Americans understand when it came to his shoot-from-the-hop style of oratory, he has is no excuse "justice." "Maybe it's time to have an offensive language in this country," said Perry.

All indications are that if there will be elements of his political personality that can cause problems for him on the track, he obviously made the calculation that its authenticity is one of its outlets more - especially against Mitt Romney.

Kristin Chenoweth: Being Gay Is Not A Sin. Time

Kristin Chenoweth: Being Gay Is Not A Sin. Time Kristin Chenoweth: Being Gay Is Not A Sin. Time

Kristin Chenoweth, talented actress, singer and self-identified Christian, said that homosexuality is a sin and she thinks being gay is the same as it was short - it's just how people are born .

These comments were made as part of an interview with the brilliant gay lawyer in which Chenoweth, perhaps best known for her role as Glinda in the Tony Award-winning musical adaptation of Wicked, talks about his participation in the upcoming ABC drama of good beautiful Christian and the release of their fourth studio album some lessons.

In the interview, Chenoweth said that just because she is Christian, it does not mean that they blindly follow what others say religion asks, and that instead it built on the old adage " What would Jesus do? "Confirms it does not 't think Jesus would go around saying," You're going to hell "and" You're wrong, you're wrong, you're wrong ", but should accept and love people .

Chenoweth, straight woman, is also developing a faith in people born gay, saying:? "What would I do if it were a sin to be a short way God made me, so what could I do Let's see if I could wear heels, I tease my hair, and maybe a good day that could be 5'1". But the bottom line is, I'm 4'11 "and the way in which I put together. And I think he's gay."

When asked how it feels to be criticized for this belief with other Christians, said Chenoweth aspects, which are entitled to their opinions, but the demand for respect for their right to speak as well.

Asked if he thinks that Christians are "a bad rap," says Chenoweth, yes, but suggests some groups call themselves Christian can actually Bring It for yourself. He adds:

"... But I also think that there are many Christians who think like me My family is very like me, but I grew up in the Bible Belt -.. And you know what comes with it My grandmother said Chenoweth. anything when I grew my friend [gay] best -..? I talked to him several times, his name is Denny I asked my grandmother Chenoweth, "How can he go to hell, I do not think [it is] correct. "And she said," Well, Kris, I read the Bible, as I eat fish. I take the meat and it serves me well, but I can not choke on the bone "

And I think she was on to something. “I take the meat that serves me well, but I don’t choke on the bone.” I read my Bible and I pray and all of that — I really do. But at the same time, I don’t think being gay is a sin. Period.

David Garrard Makes Sense Chiefs

David Garrard Makes Sense Chiefs - You need to Kansas City in the list of teams that may consider signing quarterback David Garrard. He was cut by Jacksonville on Tuesday.

David Garrard Makes Sense Chiefs The Chiefs have the worst quarterback situations in the west of CFA. It would be perfectly logical for the team to consider adding a veteran who has started 76 games in the NFL.

We can say that even at this late date, would be better leaders sign Garrard now and to quickly learn their system this week, just in case starting Matt Cassel can not play, rather than relying on the backup Tyler PALKO. Cassel has suffered a rib injury last Thursday in Green Bay. Cassel practiced Monday and said he plans to play Sunday. But the fact that it is a rib injury means that nursing could suffer a setback during the game.

If this happens, the current plan is for PALKO to play. The 28-year-old threw just six going into the regular season. PALKO is decent at times in the preseason. But the general consensus is that if a better option backup occurs, managers seek to add a veteran between Cassel and rookie Ricky Stanza.

Garrard is a solid option. But the competition is likely that Garrard. If the leaders want Garrard who may have to move quickly.

Primary Pulmonary Hypertension

Primary Pulmonary Hypertension Primary Pulmonary Hypertension -Primary pulmonary hypertension (PPH) is a rare disease characterized by elevated pulmonary artery pressure with no apparent cause. PPH is also termed precapillary pulmonary hypertension or, more recently, idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH). The term IPAH is now the preferred term for pulmonary arterial hypertension of unknown etiology; thus, IPAH represents pulmonary vascular disease with a spectrum of clinical presentations.

Dresdale and colleagues first reported a hemodynamic account of IPAH in 1951.[1] However, the pathophysiology of IPAH remains poorly understood. At least 15-20% of patients previously thought to have IPAH actually have a familial form of PAH involving at least one genetic defect, which has only recently been characterized (see Pathophysiology).

Cardiac catheterization is the criterion standard test to definitively confirm any form of PAH, including IPAH. However, a thorough workup includes a range of tests to exclude all reasonable causes of secondary pulmonary hypertension (see Workup).

Until recently, calcium channel blockers (CCBs) had been the most widely used class of drugs for IPAH. Patients with IPAH in whom CCBs are contraindicated, ineffective, or poorly tolerated may respond to long-term vasodilator therapy (see Treatment and Management).

Treating IPAH requires significant knowledge of and exposure to the available therapies for IPAH and their potential complications. Because IPAH is relatively rare, management is best left to expert personnel at centers with regular exposure to these patients (see Treatment and Management).

Hurricane Evacuations For Ocean City, Maryland
Hurricane Evacuations For Ocean City, Maryland - OCEAN CITY, Md. — With Hurricane Irene taking aim at the Maryland shore, officials ordered thousands of residents and visitors to leave Ocean City while Gov. Martin O'Malley warned of the dangers of the "monster" storm.

Meehan said the last time Ocean City ordered an evacuation was in 1985 for Hurricane Gloria.

Cliff Schrader: YouTube Video Recounts Port Huron's Sad Decline

Cliff Schrader: YouTube video recounts Port Huron's sad decline - "There once was a time when we thought we had a piece of paradise.

"Then the politicians decided to roll the dice.

"With our futures at stake, they had to go and play their damn games.

"It's a shame what's happened to our small border town." -- Terry Stroh's YouTube music video, "Our Small Border Town."

Stroh's contemporary Western song seems to be spreading like wildfire. It is Stroh's heartfelt expression of love for his hometown and what happened to it:

"Old money to blame; it's clear nothing's the same."

Community Foundation of St. Clair County President Randy Maiers nailed it with his Tuesday Times Herald guest column, "Community's willingness to give as strong as ever." Maiers noted that decades ago, business owners and industrialists -- Riggins, Moak, Crull, Weil, Acheson and others -- made vital things happen in our community.

Beyond their business endeavors, they built public institutions -- McMorran Place, the YMCA, our two hospitals, Memorial Stadium and the list goes on.

They created philanthropic institutions such as the Community Foundation of St. Clair County and the United Way of St. Clair County. Those were the days -- no dream seemed impossible. In those days, we were a community run by business entrepreneurs. They were the deciders. It was their skin in the game. If the community needed something, these leaders simply made it happen.

Decades later, our world has changed. In River City today, the great leadership of past generations -- people who laid their money and reputations on the table -- has become the leadership of "influencers."

With no power or money of their own, they attempt to gain power merely by influencing and controlling your money. In River City, this has led to economic collapse, emotional detachment and cynicism that have grown within our community.

Instead of our local institutions running the best organizations they can, they all vie for power. They try to run everyone else's group, and in the end, produce little to show for it.

Take the Community Foundation. Instead of running the best community foundation it can, its fingers are buried everywhere -- running downtown Port Huron and attempting to take over Cruise Night and whatever else its leadership covets.

Instead of the Port Huron City Council making sure the trains run on time and the city stays out of bankruptcy, it looks to spend millions of dollars playing developer -- for a $25 million fish tank, the $12 million Sperry's building renovation or a new $20 million convention center.

This is at a time when even running McMorran or the Blue Water Fest without being tarred and feathered has been a daunting challenge.

We have the St. Clair County Board of Commissioners making massive cuts to employees and services. The same board is eyeing the expenditure of tens of millions of dollars on a new convention center.

The difference between then and now is that not one of today's "influencers" has any skin in the game. They play at being big shots with your money.

Want to see the results?

Stroh's four-minute YouTube video, being watched across America, takes you from the magnificent beauty of the Blue Water Area, the heartbreak we face and the piece of paradise to which we thought we were born.

"It's a shame what happened to my hometown," Stroh's video laments. Who would argue with that?

Danica Patrick's Heart Belongs To NASCAR - Danica Patrick confirmed Thursday what even she admitted was one of sports' most poorly kept secrets.

"For breaking news that will shock the world ... " she announced she's switching full-time from IndyCar to NASCAR next season.

The GoDaddy girl -- she made the announcement from her sponsor's offices in Scottsdale, Ariz. -- will race a full Nationwide season for JR Motorsports and a part-time Sprint Cup schedule with Stewart-Haas Racing.

"If it was about money, I'd have gone a long time ago," Patrick said. "I just go where my heart tells me, where my gut tells me to go, where I'm enjoying my life the most, where I feel like I can have the most success. I've truly enjoyed my experience in NASCAR, to the point that I want to do it full-time."

Patrick is a hugely marketable driver, despite not winning much -- kind of like her Nationwide boss, Dale Earnhardt Jr. She has one IndyCar victory, in 2008, and three top-10 finishes in 20 Nationwide starts, all this season.

"I feel like in the last year, I've really come around much more on the track and the top-10s are happening much more frequently," Patrick said. "I feel like I'm getting it more and more all the time. I still have a lot to learn, that's for sure, but I really feel confident that I can be successful in the future."
Quick tweets

• Nate Burleson, with a retweet from a fan: "@Nate13Burleson At practice just caught a pass with his left hand, #tweeted me with his right, then got both feet down inbounds.

#TrueStory."

• Austin Daye: "On the way to LA!!!! Damn I hate when all these short dudes take the exit row on southwest!!!!"
Bottom line

• ESPN's Chris Spielman, an alum of The Ohio State University, asked if he's insulted that Brady Hoke won't utter his school's name, just saying "Ohio" instead: "I love it, I think it's great, because I always say Michigan football would be nowhere without players from Ohio, and the best guy to coach Michigan was from Ohio, Bo Schembechler, so they have to come to Ohio to get what they need to fulfill their football program. So I feel like we're a major contributor to that. So, no, of course I'm joking, but I love that."

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark Is the Beastie of Times

Review during a Hurry: Katie Holmes should defend a young woman from hordes of dead-eyed weirdos who insist they each be a part of them in eternal darkness. The story's based mostly on a 1973 TV movie that created an indelible impression on children of the time, together with producer Guillermo del Toro. whereas not as instantly white-knuckle scary in concert may hope, director Troy Nixey's monsters deliver a creepiness that lingers within the mind.

The Bigger Picture: the initial TV movie, with True Grit's Kim Darby as a haunted housewife harassed by strange very little folks with furry bodies and wrinkled heads, begged the age-old Eddie Murphy question regarding why white folks do not merely leave the house when there is a ghost (or alternative scary creature) in it. The refashion strengthens this soft spot by creating the phobia target a ten year-old woman named Sally (impressive youngster Bailee Madison) foisted off on her father Alex (Guy Pearce) and his girlfriend Kim (Holmes).

For Sally, having the standard cinematic dad character (i.e. perfect, aside from the actual fact that he is a clueless workaholic) could be a tad a lot of perilous than traditional, particularly when she disclose a sealed basement fire during a secret space of their spanking new creepy mansion. A prologue scene set in years past already showed us the previous occupant's penchant for amateur dentistry within the service of mysterious voices; back within the gift, those self same voices raise Sally to return play. They even sweeten the deal by behaving like benevolent tooth fairies, leaving an antique coin beneath her pillow. however once they truly end up to seem like demonic rat-people, well...appearances do not lie during this case.

The reconceived creatures (called "homunculi" within the press notes however not the film itself) are genuinely unsettling and plausibly threatening despite their size limitations, however del Toro and Matthew Robbins' script appears a lot of designed to indicate them off than specialize in the human story. we do not actually need the prologue scene aside from an additional gross-out, and also the stakes of the daddy-daughter relationship do not appear as high as they ought to be. Also, too soon it's shown that Sally is on medication, however it's never prompt she might in truth be hallucinating the full issue, an opportunity that will build Alex appear less of a jerk.

And whereas there's some antagonism between Sally and Kim, by the time the creatures are actively sabotaging Kim's possessions, it's a lot of or less over, Kim having zero doubts whatsoever that Sally is innocent. On paper, the $64000 story got to be an allegory for a child's loss of trust in separated parents; in apply, that is merely a disposable premise on that to graft li'l beasties.

Nonetheless, those things will stick in one's thoughts days later, creating random noises in the dead of night appear a lot of terrifying than they got to be. no matter the other weaknesses, that's the movie doing what it taken off to try to to.

The 180–A Second Opinion: it is a conceit you kinda simply need to come with, however what child that you just understand would go down into a wierd and scary basement unattended to try to to what some creepy, disembodied voices request?
