Forecast: Tracking Irene and a muggy Monday

WMBF Storm Team (WMBF) After some Sunday night storms keeping folks awake, we've got a quiet start just very muggy after all the rain. With a mix of sun and clouds Monday, and all that leftover moisture, it's going to feel closer to 100 with highs in the low to mid 90s.

There's still a chance of some afternoon storms as a cold front settles into our area combined with the heat of the afternoon.

Irene is now a hurricane with 75 mph winds. It's likely with the current environment surrounding the storm that Irene will only get stronger. The latest track on the storm takes it north of Hispainola, north of Cuba through the Bahamas and then skirting along the Florida coastline and possibly making landfall into southeastern Georgia.

The door is still wide open for Irene to head further west or further east giving the Carolina coast the all clear so stay tuned to see where this storm will go. Of course, you can track Irene from you computer with the WMBF Hurricane Tracker. You can see where Irene is predicted to be on specific dates and times over the next week.

The WMBF Storm Team is keeping you safe with looming threats from Irene with the Hurricane Evacuation map, as well as tips on how to prepare your home for high winds and rains.

If you're on the move, you can track Irene or any other storm on the WMBF Storm Team Weather app. Whether you have an iPhone or Android, you can download the app for free.
